Year 5 & 6

Enterprise Challenge

On Wednesday and Thursday the year five and six students took part in an ‘Enterprise Challenge’. Their design brief was to create a Game or toy aimed at the early years students and the product had to include a learning element.

The students worked in teams and gave a presentation to pitch their product after the two days. They followed a process from development through to launching of their chosen game/toy…………..

This included:

  • Brainstorming of initial ideas
  • Decision making
  • Product design
  • Constructing a prototype
  • Designing and using marketing materials eg.business cards
  • Filming a TV advert
  • Launching the product at the trade fair.
  • Powerpoint presentation to pitch to consumers (judges)

The students were fantastic and extremely industrious across the two days. We were delighted to welcome Matt Jenner from Whirlygig Toy Shop, Rebecca Randall from Rebecca Randall Colour and Design, Mr Gush and Mr Lennon as our judges.

It was not an enviable task as the standard of work was so high, however the winning group was

Stash-imals (which encourages tidying up while playing!)

We also choose one boy and one girl to receive the enterprise award. These are two students who across the two days demonstrate leadership, teamwork,  innovation, empathy and enter into the spirit of the activity.

This year’s winners were Freddie and Grace.

Well done to all year five and six students for a fantastic two days.
