Beechwood joins leading UK schools group, Alpha Schools
We are delighted to announce that Beechwood Sacred Heart School (Beechwood) in Tunbridge Wells has been acquired by Alpha Schools, a leading UK independent schools group. This is following a thorough strategic evaluation by the Board of Governors.
Constance Williams, Chair of Governors at Beechwood explains:
“Beechwood has been in existence since it was founded by the Society of the Sacred Heart in 1915. As times change and the school begins its second century we are delighted to have secured an exciting future for Beechwood by becoming part of the impressive Alpha Schools group. This will ensure that the school has the support and security needed to flourish, especially in such challenging times.”

Alpha Schools is one of the key operators of independent schools in the UK and is consistently placed in the higher echelons of academic benchmarking, including the Sunday Times Schools Guide “Best Performing Schools Group” 2018, 2019 and 2020. Founded in 2003, the group is led by Mr Ali Khan, a former Headmaster with close to 20 years’ experience in education. Under Mr Khan’s leadership it has grown to be one of the largest operators of independent schools in the UK, running 14 schools.
