Prep Sports Day
PREP SPORTS DAY
Wednesday 21 June 2017
On Wednesday 21st June our Prep School held their Sports Day’s. As the temperature steadily rose, on what was to become the hottest June day since 1976, our Reception and Key Stage 1 began, what was to be a wonderful day, with their events in the morning. All our pupils took part in a 50m running race, followed by their throwing event and the morning was concluded with some excellent skills races and a very exciting House relay. All our pupils did very well in all their events. Special congratulations to Jack and Francesca who won our Victor and Victrix Ludorum medals for the best boy and girl athletes this term.
At 2.00pm it was our Key Stage 2 pupils’ turn. We were very grateful for the shelter our new Beechwood gazebos, given by the Year 6 leaver’s and the Parents’ Association. The afternoon saw all our pupils take part in a 50 or 100m individual race, a final opportunity to gain a few more points for our end of term athletics awards. Then the House competition began and there were some fantastic races making it clear the result was going to be extremely close. Despite the soaring temperatures records were also broken on the track. Ashton now holds the Year 3 Boys 50m, Savannah the Year 4 Girls 200m and Sam broke his own 200m record to set a new Prep School record. The afternoon was rounded off with fun skills relay.
Congratulations to Assisi who won the event and individual congratulations to Matthew and Esme who won the Victor and Victrix Ludorum awards in Key Stage 2.
