Sport and Activities

Prep children experience a wide variety of sports in Games and PE lessons. There is a extensive range of clubs at lunchtime and after school, and there are opportunities to compete in a House or School team. Swimming is taught from Reception: for this we visit a local swimming pool.

Pupils are provided with opportunities to experience a range of team and individual sports to help develop a broad base of interests. The emphasis is on fun, participation and team ethic, however we are keen for our students to have the opportunity to excel. Recent team successes include Kent U11 rugby finalists, mixed tag-rugby finalists and cross country U11Bronze Medal. Individual achievements include County Honours in cricket, rugby and chess.

Sports facilities include hockey and football pitches; netball, basketball and tennis courts; cricket nets; gymnasium, badminton and volleyball courts. We currently use local all weather pitches, but forthcoming plans include a dedicated Multi Use Games Area.

An after-school club programme, from 4.00 pm to 6.00 pm every day, includes activities such as athletics, drama (LAMDA), crafts, model making, brain-training, multi-sports incl. gymnastics, cross-country, rugby, netball and football, cookery – in our dedicated facility, art, bush-craft and gardening. Some clubs take place at lunchtimes such as ball skills, music, judo, chess, tennis and ballet.
